From Discussions with Japan with Broad Discretion To Architecture Proposals

Bridge System Engineer

Nguyen Thanh Hoang

After graduating from university, he joined the Vietnamese subsidiary of Yahoo! JAPAN in 2014 and engaged in web application development. From 2017, as a BrSE, he participated in product development for services such as Yahoo! Auctions and Passmarket. For two years starting from 2018, he was stationed in Japan, where he gained practical experience being involved in the entire product lifecycle, from planning to release. After returning to Vietnam, while continuing his activities as a BrSE, he also took on responsibilities as a Tech Lead for technical strategy planning and team management. He joined TechX Vietnam in 2024.

What sparked your interest in TechX, and what was the deciding factor for joining?

When I researched online, I learned that TechX develops 'all-in-one solutions' for Japanese companies, providing comprehensive services from consulting to design and implementation, and I was strongly attracted to that business strategy.
Furthermore, the fact that the management gives the engineering teams discretion and actively encourages proposals for new technologies and solutions resonated with me and made me think, 'I want to take on challenges here,' and I decided to join.

What is your role as a BrSE?

Currently, I am working as a BrSE for the technology development team in Vietnam.
I am involved in the entire product development lifecycle, from requirements definition to implementation and operation, and I aim to balance both quality and speed by accurately understanding the requirements from the Japan side and smoothly coordinating with the development team in Vietnam.

What has been a particularly challenging experience in your work so far?

It's been over a year since I joined TechX, and depending on the project, there have been times when we were required to release products on a very tight schedule.
What was particularly difficult was appropriately allocating personnel with limited resources and balancing both quality and stable operation while maintaining the progress of the sprint.
On that occasion, by closely coordinating and cooperating with the product owner on the Japan side and the development team in Vietnam, we were ultimately able to successfully release the product according to the company's required schedule.

What is the appeal of working as a BrSE at TechX?

What I find most appealing about working as a BrSE at TechX is being able to adjust feature priorities while having direct discussions with the product owner on the Japan side.
Another major appeal is that during the implementation phase, I have the discretion to propose the optimal architecture and technical solutions for the business requirements myself. I find it rewarding to be in a position where I'm not just a bridge, but can also be involved in valuable decision-making.

After the office renewal in May 2025, have there been any changes in your way of working or the team's atmosphere?

The biggest thing I've felt since we moved to the new office is that the team members have become much closer.
To be honest, the previous office was a bit small, so there were times when members had to sit apart from their team.

In the new office, the workspace has expanded significantly, allowing the entire team to work together in the same area, which I feel is a really good thing.

What's your favorite part about the office?

The first word that comes to my mind is 'brightness.'
I feel that not only the design of the workspace, but also the areas where members can collaborate are very well-equipped.

In addition, there is a large relaxation space where we can unwind during our lunch break, and I find it very appealing that we have an environment where everyone can enjoy team-building-like activities together.

Finally, could you give a message to our readers?

If you want to work in a multicultural and global environment with bases in both Vietnam and Japan, and if you are interested in a workplace where you are trusted by management and can proactively propose your own ideas and new technologies, then please come and work with us!
